Pen & Watercolour sketches
This project is underway and will be finished this week. In support of the Koalas' lost during the 2020 bush fires in Victoria & Australia. My subject was a rescue in 2009 when the devastating fires took out so many thousands of Koalas from Victoria. this little fellow was saved and lived at the Healesville Sanctuary. This painting is one of the 99 artworks that will be will be on show in Sydney and Los Angeles hopefully early next year and also included in a publication coming out later this year. My subject is 11x14 inches and is in scratchboard & ink. Titled: "Living with Hope" by Jan Lowe. "Living with Koalas" is a special project, all of the 100 artists are donating their artworks for the Koala. https://livingwithkoalas.com.au

Special project -
in Support of the Koala
"Living with Hope". I chose this little Koala as my subject for inclusion with the 100 Artists for the special project by G Henshaw's project "Living with Koalas". This little one was nestled into a half-burnt gum tree, which was appropriate as it was rescued from the bush fires in 2009. Using scratchboard and limited inks, I chose this little fellow as my subject as it shows the little animal within the tree, the burnt tree gave rise for its plight to survive the bush-fires; and sadly they struggle to survive and man has to be more conscious with management of the forests and the protection of these amazing little animals and all other essential animals and other species within the forests and environment.
Pen & Wash sketches of some cute little critters, Canadian Cotton Tails in Stanley Park Vancouver, Chipmunk of Calico US and Wallaby of Ventnor AU.
Another project - it is complicated and colorful, it is still underway - but nearing completion: "Glass Balloons".
Victorians are so lucky to have the National Gallery - it stages some incredible exhibitions and is one of my inspirational places.
On a cold mid winters day, this young family caught my attention just outside the Federation Square Galleries. The colors and of the balloons - they reflected the light like glass - I think my piece will be titled "Glass Balloons"! It added cheer and glamour to the grayness of the day! This Project, as a black & white looked great, but I needed colour!! It is a challenge - but exciting - capturing the colors and spirit is so important, my next steps will pull it all together. Goes to show that simple things in life are great subjects!
Still a lot of work before this project is complete!
