2019 WORKS IN SCRATCHBOARD & CLAYBORD

Claybord

Picture
2019 piece on Clayboard, scratch with colour of Daniel Smith Watercolor. This reference for this painting is with the permission of Nick Dyers and his stunning photograph from his book; although slightly altered, it was the look of guilt on the little pups face that I sort. "Wolves Play Too!" is the title, this pup is running free when Nick took this photo. For my subject I so wanted to paint another Painted Wolf of Africa. The photographs I had were not of wild dogs but living in a zoo, they are gorgeous, but something about being free - I had to use Nick's photograph and with his blessing, there he is. Claybord 11 x 14 inches.
Picture
Echidna - a regular visitor to my property. Shy and beautiful. Claybord, colour with watercolour and then scratched the Echidna leaving the back and foregrounds in watercolour. 8x8 inches. Own subject & photographs. Aug. 2019
Picture
Infant Tree Frog. This little fellow comes out regularly directly after the storm - runs up the windows and the old Arum Lillie - a haven after the rain! Own material, Claybord and colour with watercolour. Scratchboard for the Frog and front of the Lillie. Background is watercolour, although the droplets are scratched. 8x8 inches. Aug. 2019

Scratchboard

Picture
African Painted Dog.
One of most misunderstood species roaming the Eastern part of Africa.  This beautiful wild dog is endangered and needs help.  It is fighting for survival and the biggest threat is human!.
This stunning dog lives in the Werribee Open Range Zoo, Melbourne Australia running with a large pack of paints...
Although the dog is colourful, I wanted to capture its presence by limited colour and having the beautiful pink tongue and eye being the only colours used; giving her soul and dignity..
