Artist Statement
"My art, my way!"
“My art, my way”, my art is storytelling through paintings. My depiction of the subject will not be perfect, it's my interpretation, with passion, portraying my thoughts and respect for the subject! My paintings in the majority are animals, sketched in the field or own photography. It’s all about storytelling, the passion and recording the moment!
I see the soul of my subject; they speak to me through my brush I interpret them to the viewer. As my subjects are individuals, I have spent time with, I know them and the rear occasion I used a photographer’s photograph (once!) – I found out all I could about that subject – it’s soul and why the photograph was taken and what it meant to the taker! My art is all freehand no aids or tracing.
Art is very personal, it comes from my soul and when I teach my students, I ask them to select a subject they know and love – that makes it special, the results tell the story.
