Hard to believe that it is now March! As we are experiencing drought conditions on the farm - lots of stuff has been delayed including art classes, they now start in April, and I am hoping that the weather gives us some rain, which it is now into its forth month without more than 30-40 seconds of rain! No grasses for the beautiful wallabies that share our property, however, we are supporting them grains and fruit, and of course water. The horses and sheep are hanging in, but are all desirous of some succulent grasses and clovers!! January 2024: I view my art as "realist/Impressionist", although I do some contemporary I am thrilled to share that two of my Scratchboards - the Carver & Living with Hope - have been included in the first printed issue of "1 Top Contemporary Artists to Watch in 2024". This publication showcases a carefully selected group of artists whose visionary work promises to define and influence the world's contemporary art scene in 2024. " am honored to be included among them. "My art can be described as a blend of realist and impressionist styles, and although I also create contemporary works, I am delighted to be recognized for my contributions to the art world.", however, I am thrilled to be included. 2023: Nov - Time and stuff gets in the way for finding time to update my web, with arranging my new studio's window shades, overall layout & garden area, setting up workshops and on-line classes & personal classes - however things should move with the installation of the blinds this coming Saturday AY! And of course, then there is the care of the rescue animals! It is wonderful working in my new art studio - it so bright and quiet! Just loving it. October - Thanks to QWASI for the opportunity to hang in their 40 year Wildlife Exhibition, and to receive an Award of Commended for my scratchboard - Echidna - foraging - that was a wonderful surprise and bonus. September/October I had the privilege of being one of three Jurors for the stunning Camelback Gallery's International Juried Art Awards "Color Impact 2023" - talk about something brilliant with the use of colour, it was so refreshing to see the use of watercolour - and the winner was the watercolorist Karen Romani (USA) with her painting "Lonely Parsnip". However, there was so many stunning paintings - it was a challenge and I am delighted for all of the winners. Taken on a new role as President for the Pastel Society of Australia, that will use up any spare time!! What I love about this team - is its commitment to its members, its professionalism, and team spirit, thank you to PSA for this opportunity. QWASI is another amazing group that I love being their Editor. So here is some of what has happened over the last 3 months, so lucky to receive the following awards for my artworks - Gallery Ring, Canada in their Nature October 2023 International Exhibition, one of my Scratchboards - "Hissy the Koala" awarded a Crystal Award. Also was delighted to receive the Sapphire Artist of October 2023 with my "When 2 fronts meet - Magic" WC on Claybord with Gallery Ring - just so thrilled, and a huge thank you to Gallery Ring. Camelback Gallery Arizona - Artist Invitational International Competition Awarded my Scratchboard "Monie" with a Silver Award - WOW I am rather thrilled, thank you to CB Team. Had a wonderful task to jointly judge the sensational "Color Impact 2023 Camelback Gallery", Arizona. This was stunning, the works were all of an exceptional standard - everyone should be so thrilled to be part of it. I am honored to be asked to judge, it is always a challenge, especially an international show with the brilliance and variety of works, thank you to Camelback Gallery for these opportunities. A Workshop in Scratchboard and Claybord. Commenced in September - 12.30pm & recommence 1.00pm - 4.00pm. Held over 2 days, students were given the opportunity to attend both days or for one day, each day is a complete workshop, and students will left with a painting, Limited numbers, ensuring students get the opportunity to progress. Subject matter is animals and nature. Workshops will recommence in Jan 2024 - taking interest now, so please email your interest, the classes are small, however lots to learn and we all have a lot of wonderful art results. I am so thrilled that my painting "Giants Playground" received a Bronze Award in the "Nature Painting July 2023" with Global Painting Conclave, (Nova Scotia Canada). My painting "Blue Eyes" (Pastel), received a Crystal Award in the Gallery Ring Pastel & Coloured Pencil show in July 2023. I am so delighted. My Portrait of an Afghanistan Mountain Man, received an Honorable Mention Award by Teravarna in the 2023 International Juried Art Competition. This is such a surprise and a thrill. Two of my paintings received an Honorable Mention in the Ärt Contemporary Room, in the "2023 Animals Art Exhibition June 2023 - they are - Spring Fever - Bisons Grip (WC) and Fishing in the Savannah - A Raccoon (Pastel). Very honored and so grateful. I am delighted to report that my "San Remo WC painting, received a "Talent Prize Award" in the 7th Landscape 2023 International Juried Art Competition run by Teravarna of California - May 23". Ya! - very honoured. I received a lovely note from Global Painting Conclave (Canada) that my painting "Our Beach" received a "Certificate Award" in their April 2023 Watercolor Painting International Contest. YA - so delighted. Also thrilled that my watercolour painting "My Patch - Wallaby", received a Crystal Artist of April Award from Gallery Ring of Canada - very happy. My watercolour - "Blues of Cowes" received an Award of Merit - from Gallery Ring of Canada in their "Blues International Competition". Am rather thrilled. February 2023 - I have so thrilled to receive "Silver Award" for my watercolour on Claybord - "Spring Fever - Bisons Grip". WOW - thank you to Camelback Galley of Arizona in the Amazing Animals 2023 Annual International Exhibition - so delighted. I was also delighted to report I received an "Honorable Special Prize" with the German Publication "Internationaler Kunstwettbewerb, Lounge 2022 for the scratchboard "Bushtail Possum", I am just delighted to be recognized within such an brilliant publication. Well I am thrilled to say that I received "Emerald Artist of the Year 2022" with the Canadian Gallery Ring. WOW, I could not believe the notice, and am so blowen away and a huge thank you to Gallery Ring - this is so encouraging and pushes me to do better. I am thrilled to be asked to be a Guest Juror for 2023, for the fabulous Camelback Galleries in Scottsdale, Arizona US. WOW, I am so honoured to be asked, as the standard is just stunning, it was a privilege to be one of the judges for the first show this year, the works entered could all be winners! I think that what Camelback Gallery is doing is just wonderful for international art, and it is great to be part of this team. I am a member of Fusion Art of Santa Fe US, the opportunities within their international shows is a brilliant avenue for artists and I am very fortunate to show and with some successes. Light Space and Time is another fabulous group and I love being part of their shows. Art Room Contemporary on Line Gallery, and Global Painting Conclave of Nova Scotia Canada is just wonderful and I thrilled that my paintings have touched a few hearts, Gallery Ring is another wonderful avenue for international artists, and am thrilled to had some of my artworks selected. I am so also very excited to have had my paintings published in Europe, and the latest publication with my four images - 3 watercolors and one scratchboard. So thrilled and awaiting arrival of the publication "Excellent Art" from Germany, and the "Animal Worlds of Art" with my two scratchboards! The opportunities afforded to me by the Circle Foundation for the Arts in France has been tremendous, and I am so grateful for the opportunities to be invited to exhibit and to be published within their magazines - Spotlight and Circle Quarterly Art Review, huge thank you. |
I seem to be falling behind in submitting what is happening in my art-world. So here goes - delighted to report that my "Whiskey Cove" Scratchboard receipt a Bronze Award for the "Color Painting Dec. 2023" with Global Painting Conclave. I received four Distinction Awards for my four watercolour paintings, "When 2 fronts meet - magic", "Our Beach", "Giants Playground" and "Lifting Snows in Beautiful Victoria" from the Californian Group - Gallery 4%. To be considered and selected is such an honor.
Art Room Gallery bestowed 2 Honorable Mentions for my 2 "Still Life paintings" - "Falling Leaves of Autumn" & "Colours of Autumn". Another delightful arty thing happened to me, I was invited for an interview with "the Contemporary Art Curator Magazine", I am so thrilled.
