2023 Workshop in Scratchboard Next one is to be held on the 16 & 17 September 2023 Flyers coming out next week. Classes in Scratchboard & Claybord commence for winter, commencing on the 11 and 12 July for the season. However, on-line Classes in Scratchboard are active now, and we are calling for more students...get involved, it is so much fun and great learning. Artist Statement"My art, my way!"
“My art, my way”, my art is storytelling through paintings. My depiction of the subject will not be perfect, it's my interpretation, with passion, portraying my thoughts and respect for the subject! My paintings in the majority are animals, sketched in the field or own photography. It’s all about storytelling, the passion and recording the moment! I see the soul of my subject; they speak to me through my brush I interpret them to the viewer. As my subjects are individuals, I have spent time with, I know them and the rear occasion I used a photographer’s photograph (once!) – I found out all I could about that subject – it’s soul and why the photograph was taken and what it meant to the taker! My art is all freehand no aids or tracing. Art is very personal, it comes from my soul and when I teach my students, I ask them to select a subject they know and love – that makes it special, the results tell the story. Jan Lowe, AGRA |
