-Our students gathered for the third workshop in Scratchboard, and were eager to take the challenge of drawing gum-trees. Unfortunately shimmering water didn't emerge, however the gum-tree results were very encouraging and the class should be very proud of all of their endeavours. Some were reluctant to ad colour, however those that did were delighted with the result.
We were very thrilled that three young people came to observe and in fact joined in with out class. Rob and Peter were graphic artists and worked in the city and Michelle is a uni student from Adelaide where she studies sculptural art in metal.

Our very proud students of scratchboard - Christine working from white to dark, and getting a great result; Pauline bringing out her wonderful tree and her colours were just beautiful, blue and burnt sienna - really stunning. Anne's tree, definitely wants to keep it B&W, however it is looking just beautiful and with a broken branch just coming down the right, WOW. Colin, who I must admit is giving Scratchboard a real go; he has completed so many and is really improving with every cut. His tree is looking really fantastic. Lots of colour and his confidence with the knife is showing.
WOW this tutor is very proud of the wonderful efforts of this four, thank you all for coming along and getting stuck into the subject, which can be a little daunting, for any one knew to scratch. However, the skills all four have now gives them all a excellent understanding of scratch and what can be achieved. We will have a final workshop on the 18th May, working on some of our favourite subjects, then we will have a forum of what has been achieved and learned over the term.....Jan Lowe
